J. COLE DROPPED A NEW LIVE ALBUM FOR HIS BIRTHDAY

J. Cole Dropped A New Live Album For His Birthday

His gift to you.

I’m sorry to break it to you, but there’s really nothing — tangible, at least — that you could get J. Cole for his birthday, which is Thursday (Jan. 28). Your continued love and support have been much appreciated, and they’re a year-round gift, so he probably forgives you for not getting him anything. Instead, as he turns 31 today, he’s got something for you: A new album.
Sort of.
Forest Hills Drive: Live is actually — well, exactly what it sounds like: A live version of his 2014 album, 2014 Forest Hills Drive. The recording is taken from his concert last year in his native Fayetteville, North Carolina, which was turned into the HBO special, “Forest Hills Drive: Homecoming,” which aired earlier this month.
If you’ve seen the special, then the sounds on this album won’t be new — but that doesn’t make it any less of a treat if you’re a Cole fan. The live album includes the original’s first 12 tracks (there’s no “Note to Self”), plus an interlude, with past hits “Lights Please,” “In The Morning,” and “Nobody’s Perfect.”
Happy Cole Day.
