ANGELINA’S HOPES FOR HER CHILDREN

Angelina’s Hopes For Her Children

Angelina jolie

ANGELINA JOLIE may come from a Hollywood family - not only is her father, Jon Voight, an Oscar-winning actor, but her mother, Marcheline Bertrand, was also an actress and producer - but it would seem that neither she nor husband Brad Pitt are keen for their children to pursue the family business.

"I hope not!" she exclaimed when asked whether her children have caught the acting bug, in an interview with NBC news. "Brad and I always said if they're going to be actors I hope they do something, and then become actors."

Four of Jolie's six children have small parts in her new film, Kung Fu Panda 3. Pax, 12, Zahara, 10, Shiloh, nine, and Knox, seven, all star alongside their mother, who resumes her role as Tigress for the third instalment of the franchise, while youngest daughter Vivienne already appeared alongside her mother in 2014's Maleficent
Vivienne Jolie-Pitt as Princess Aurora in Maleficent

Despite her hesitancy over their budding acting careers, she couldn't help but be impressed by her children's professional work ethic. "What I think was so sweet about it was that they took it very seriously," Jolie said. "They came in and they said, 'I don't know if I can do this!' They really took it seriously as a job."
That might have something to do with the fact that, despite their young age, her children have already been following Jolie's professional career, R-rated movies and all. When swapping parenting stories with co-star Jack Black, Jolie revealed to People, "You think the kids know nothing, and then you find out they're like, 'Oh yeah, seen it.' That happened like four years ago."

A. Lange & Söhne’s Grand Lange 1 Moon Phase “Lumen”, Presented by the Director of Product Development (Video)

Having already looked at the Datograph Pepretual Tourbillon last week, we will look at the another big highlight from the A. Lange & Söhne 2016 collection, the Grand Lange 1 Moon Phase “Lumen.”  I’ll start off with some background and images, and then down the page is the excellent video presentation of this watch by A. Lane & Söhne Director of Product Development Anthony de Haas.  Enjoy

In 2013, A. Lange & Söhne introduced the Grande Lange 1 “Lumen”, a watch with a semi-transparent sapphire-crystal dial that exposes the disc configuration of the Lange outsize date.  It was followed a year later by the Grand Lange 1 Moon Phase with a prominent and highly accurate in-dial moon-phase display (reproducing the lunar month with an accuracy of 99.998%).

Now, the Grand Lange 1 Moon Phase “Lumen” brings the best of both pieces together into one watch.

The dial is made of blackened silver with a black-tinted, semi-transparent sapphire-crystal glass.  Essentially the inverse of UV-blocking sunglasses, the special coating applied to the glass blocks most visible light but not the UV spectra.  Which thus allows the luminous pigments on the outsize-date mechanism to still glow in the dark. The tens cross is coated with a white luminous compound and printed with black numerals. Conversely, the units disc, also featuring black numerals, is made of transparent glass and rotates in front of the luminous background of the date aperture

As Director of Product Development Anthony de Haas explains in the below video, this model is different from Lange’s previous moon-phase models with solid-gold lunar discs; instead, the the Grand Lange 1 Moon Phase Lumen has a disc made of glass. Initially, its surface is treated with a patented coating process. In a second step, a laser is used to cut out 1164 stars and the moon.  Luminous compound behind the lunar disc brings them to life.
The manually wound calibre L095.4 is elaborately finished and of the classical A. Lange style, as one would expect.  The gorgeous three-quarter plate made of untreated German silver is decorated with striping (“Glashütte ribbing” they call it, as opposed to “Côtes de Genève” or“Geneva striping”).  Other classical Lange elements include the use of screwed gold chatons, and a screwed balance with a free-sprung balance spring (made in-house).

CHANNING TATUM REVEALS WHAT BEYONCE TEXTED HIM AFTER THEIR ‘LIP SYNC BATTLE’ PERFORMANCE

CHANNING TATUM REVEALS WHAT BEYONCE TEXTED HIM AFTER THEIR ‘LIP SYNC BATTLE’ PERFORMANCE

Remember when Channing Tatum participated in the always-insane “Lip Sync Battle” with an internet-breaking rendition of Beyonce’s “Run the World (Girls)?” The actor went balls to the wall with his divalicious performance, dressing in full Bey drag and twerking his windblown-wigged heart out before Beyonce herself manifested onstage for a fleeting but epic finale.
Well, to hear Channing relive the experience, coming face-to-drag-face with Queen B was utterly “terrifying.”
“That is the first time I ever met her, right there,” the actor said during an appearance on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” airing Thursday. “I won’t even tell you what I had to do to essentially get her assistance.”
The best part about Channing’s story is that Beyonce texted him after the show and apparently said, “Hey, I would love to meet you [and Jenna Dewan-Tatum] and hang out when you’re not looking like me… it’s so terrifying.”
We’ll be awaiting pics from a Channing/Jenna-Beyonce/Jay Z double date. In the meantime, revisit Channing and Bey slaying the stage together, because you know you want to.

ZAYN MALIK JUST REVEALED HIS ALBUM TITLE

Zayn Malik Just Revealed His Album Title

Zayn Malik’s first-ever solo album will be called Mind Of Mine and it will have 17 or 18 songs, the 23-year-old singer revealed in a new interview broadcast on Beats 1 Radio on Thursday (Jan. 28).
Zayn — whose first single, “Pillowtalk,” will drop on Friday — spoke to host Zane Lowe at length about his new music, divulging that he wrote nearly 50 songs, some of them during his time withOne Direction.
Zayn wrote one of the songs in collaboration with Kehlani — whom he called “sick” — in Los Angeles after recording himself rapping and pulling lyrics from that. Another, titled “She,” is a self-described “party tune” that’s “not as intense lyrically” as some of the other cuts. Zayn also revealed that the previously-teased “Befour” was written in a studio in a Las Vegas hotel, which sounds ridiculously glamorous.
Still no word on the actual release date of Mind Of Mine, but hey, one step at a time.
“Pillowtalk” will premiere tonight at 9 p.m. PST via Apple Music, immediately before a rebroadcast of the interview (including video).

J. COLE DROPPED A NEW LIVE ALBUM FOR HIS BIRTHDAY

J. Cole Dropped A New Live Album For His Birthday

His gift to you.

I’m sorry to break it to you, but there’s really nothing — tangible, at least — that you could get J. Cole for his birthday, which is Thursday (Jan. 28). Your continued love and support have been much appreciated, and they’re a year-round gift, so he probably forgives you for not getting him anything. Instead, as he turns 31 today, he’s got something for you: A new album.
Sort of.
Forest Hills Drive: Live is actually — well, exactly what it sounds like: A live version of his 2014 album, 2014 Forest Hills Drive. The recording is taken from his concert last year in his native Fayetteville, North Carolina, which was turned into the HBO special, “Forest Hills Drive: Homecoming,” which aired earlier this month.
If you’ve seen the special, then the sounds on this album won’t be new — but that doesn’t make it any less of a treat if you’re a Cole fan. The live album includes the original’s first 12 tracks (there’s no “Note to Self”), plus an interlude, with past hits “Lights Please,” “In The Morning,” and “Nobody’s Perfect.”
Happy Cole Day.

ASHLEY GRAHAM HATES THE PHRASE "REAL WOMEN"

ASHLEY GRAHAM HATES THE PHRASE "REAL WOMEN"

The NYDJ campaign star on her latest modeling gig and her issue with those two very loaded words.

The NYDJ you thought you knew―that brand that launched back in 2003 for women of acertain age―is no longer. After going through a bit of a transformation (adding new shapes and styles; tapping a new creative board) it's clear the brand is eager to shed its matronly feel for something a little cooler. It's no surprise then that NYDJ's 2016 campaign stars Christie Brinkley, Lana Ogilvie, Bridget Moynahan, and Ashley Graham, models and actresses who make up a multigenerational crew any woman would want to chill with. "I didn't feel like I was out of my age bracket modeling and I didn't feel like I looked older in the jeans," Graham's words "I feel like I could tell my 21-year-old sister that she would look just as hot as I would in [the jeans]." Here, the plus size model, designer, and image activist tells us more about her awesome day, her lovefest with Christie Brinkley, and why she takes issue with the phrase "real women."

Congratulations on the campaign! Walk me through that day when you were shooting.

When NYDJ called me and told me that Christie Brinkley was going to be on set with me I freaked out. And when I met Christie, she had a little freak out because she said that her daughter Sailor loved me so much. She called her on the phone and I chatted with her, and it was so funny because the stuff I'd been telling Christie, Sailor was telling me. It just came full circle. It was so amazing. It just felt like a normal―like it should be on a photo shoot. I wasn't nervous or anything like that, I just felt like one of the supermodels.

I was actually going to ask you, standing next to Christie, was there any sort of intimidation factor? You said you felt like one of the girls?

Yeah! She told me that I needed to become a movie star because I have that something, and then we actually just became friends on set. She has such a young spirit, and is so vivacious. It was such a fun, fun shoot.

What was the vibe like?

We were definitely dancing on set. We were definitely cool girls; putting our hands in each other's back jean pockets. It was a very old classic type of looking campaign. And I think the simpler the better for things like this. You really get to understand that this jean is a classically fit jean, and that's exactly how we were modeling. It was a lot of fun.

That's great! NYDJ has recently gone through a rebranding. What were you surprised to learn about who the brand is today?

I was surprised to learn how young and cool they actually were. I actually came on and was like, 'Okay, where's the ripped jeans? Where's the studded coolness?' And they pulled it all out for me. I didn't feel like I was out of my age bracket modeling, I didn't feel like I looked older in the jeans. I feel like I could tell my 21-year-old sister that she would look just as hot as I would in them.

I feel like often times plus-size women say they have trouble finding denim. What—

Oh, it sucks. It's terrible. First of all, no woman likes to go shopping for denim, and if you've got hips, or a butt, or a stomach it's never never easy. NYDJ has a little bit of stretch in all the denim, and they run big, so you can go down a size. That just makes you feel better, right? And the fit, it's not like these low-rise, that's not realistic for me. I like mid-rise or high-rise, and they're all about the fit.

I spoke to Bridget Moynahan for NYDJ  last year and she said the same thing about the denim. She absolutely loved the rise.

They're comfortable. Who doesn't want to be comfortable all day long?

Definitely. What denim fit tips do you swear by?

There has to be a little bit of stretch. One more thing is it has to hit right at or right below my belly button. Not even an inch below my belly button, because otherwise I'm going to be pulling my pants up all day, and I'm just going to have a terrible day. Because if your clothes don't fit, just like bras or anything, it's not a good day.

Agreed. What are some of your favorite denim moments in history?

Brooke Shields in Calvin Klein. While we were shooting for NYDJ I actually went into the Brooke Shields position, and then they were like, 'yaaassss!' She started it and I'm here bringing it around full circle for her, and for the denim campaigns of the world.

You've made huge strides in the body image and positive body image sector. How does it feel to be tapped for a campaign like this after all you've done?

It feels good. It feels like it's supposed to happen. It feels like, 'alright, we're making progress.' And there are very large companies like NYDJ who are taking notice of women with curves, and not only making clothes for them, but including them in the campaign, because that's exactly what the average woman wants to see. She wants to see herself in a campaign. She wants to see what she's going to look like in the jeans, and also be celebrated throughout all of this. So, I think it's amazing, yet it's supposed to be happening.

It's nice to see "real women," I guess you could say, in campaigns like these.

You know, I don't like to use the words "real women," honestly. I like to use the word woman. And I say that because there are so many women out there who are naturally thin, or are naturally curvy, and I think when we start putting a label on the type of woman it gets misconstrued and starts to offend people. At the end of the day we just all want to be known as women or models or actresses or whatever.

Game of Thrones season 6 release date: HBO confirms US start, Sky Atlantic to simulcast in UK

Game of Thrones season 6 release date: HBO confirms US start, Sky Atlantic to simulcast in UK

Winter is coming, well spring, but you know what I'm getting at, as HBO has revealed that Game of Thrones season 6 will arrive on 24 April in its usual 9pm slot.
This falls in line with previous   seasons,   and puts to bed fears that the show would have to be knocked back to May to make way for other HBO dramas finishing up.
We've yet to hear whether Sky Atlantic will be simulcasting in the wee hours in the UK (most likely), but we'll update this story as soon as we've heard back.
Update: They are indeed - Sky Atlantic will premiere the first episode the same time as HBO, which will be 2am in the UK
24 April was predicted as the premiere date a few months back, as it follows the end of Scorsese's new HBO series, Vinyl.
To the surprise of no-one, HBO also renewed Game of Thrones for seasons 7 and 8.
From the poster, teaser and image we've seen so far (spoilers ahead), season 6 looks to centre on Jon Snow's resurrection and subsequent battle with Ramsay, and Bran Stark's honing of his Warg abilities.

Latest Warcraft movie trailer teases more war, less craft

Latest Warcraft movie trailer teases more war, less craft

Anduin Lothar

The latest trailer for director Duncan Jones' Warcraft movie has dropped, teasing the epic battles that give the franchise its name.
The movie, which appears to draw inspiration more from Blizzard's original strategy Warcraft games than the World of Warcraft MMO, explores the early days of the conflict between orcs and humans, with Travis Fimmelas a young Sir Anduin Lothar and Toby Kebbell as Durotan, leader of an orcish tribe willing to seek peace.
While fans of the series know the animosity and rivalry that eventually blossoms between the factions, the film looks set to tease a possible union between human and orc -- before it's tragically stolen away thanks to fear and distrust. The trailer more or less lampshades that direction at least, with humans advocating wiping out the orcs, and only Lothar and Durotan showing any spark of camaraderie.
Durotan

The official synopsis for the film reads, "The peaceful realm of Azeroth stands on the brink of war as its civilization faces a fearsome race of invaders: orc warriors fleeing their dying home to colonise another. As a portal opens to connect the two worlds, one army faces destruction and the other faces extinction. From opposing sides, two heroes are set on a collision course that will decide the fate of their family, their people and their home. So begins a spectacular saga of power and sacrifice in which war has many faces, and everyone fights for something."
The effects-heavy movie uses a mixture of performance capture technology and prosthetics for its orc cast -- which features Rob Kazinsky as warchief Orgrim Doomhammer,Paula Patton as the seemingly half-human Garona, andDaniel Wu as warlock Gul'dan -- along with vast physical sets, and detailed armour for its humans. It certainly looks authentically Warcraft -- hopefully the screenplay, co-written by Jones and Charles Leavitt will do the material justice, and not suffer the fate of most video game adaptations.

LA PERLA APPOINTS NEW CREATIVE DIRECTOR

LA PERLA APPOINTS NEW CREATIVE DIRECTOR

Pedro Lourenço

LAPERLA has officially appointed Pedro Lourençoas the creative director of the brand with immediate effect, confirming rumours that have been circulating since late last year. Lourenço, who has held positions at Lanvin andGiambattista Valli, will present his first collection for the Italian brand - which made its name in luxury lingerie, but has in recent years branched out into sleepwear, lounge wear, beachwear and menswear - for autumn/winter 2016 at Milan Fashion Week.

An archive La Perla shot from 1995

"I have always admired La Perla," Lourenço said of his new employer. "I am fascinated by the early days of the brand: a small atelier focusing on corsetry made to the highest standards and designed to enhance the beauty of women. The founder, Ada Masotti, a visionary woman, was aware of the fact that fashion was constantly being revolutionised and lingerie had to change with it. In her universe, modernity walked hand-in-hand with femininity and functionality did not preclude creativity. She changed the way the world thinks of lingerie. I am amazed by the philosophy she created and I want to bring it back today."
Lourenço will continue to run his eponymous brand which he debuted in 2010 at Paris Fashion Week when he was a tender 19 years old. The designer has been well prepared for his career in fashion, learning his craft from his fashion designer parents, Reinaldo Lourenço and Gloria Coelho, as he grew up in his native Brazil.

"The talent, style and creative maturity of Pedro Lourenço are the reasons of our choice", said La Perla chairman Silvio Scaglia of his new protegé. "His approach and style relate to our founding values and reflect the path overtaken by the brand in the last two years. The sartorial excellence and sensibility for the female body combined with a quest for innovation are pillars of La Perla and match the skills and talent of this young designer. La Perla, together with Pedro Lourenço, will blur the boundaries between lingerie, beachwear and outerwear, extending its natural focus on sensuality, elegance and preciousness."

Lourenço replaces Emiliano Rinaldi who departed the label in June 2015.

American Apparel's Court Case Closed

American Apparel's Court Case Closed

American Apparel

THE long, drawn-out battle regarding the future of American Apparel has come to a close, with a Delaware bankruptcy court ruling that the clothing company can emerge from bankruptcy, reports WWD, by following an approved "reorganisation plan".
The ruling means that alternative attempts to regain control of the company by its controversial founder, Dov Charney - who earlier this month was a key proponent in a proposed $300 million takeover offer that would see his reinstatement as an employee of the brand - are redundant. Charney confirmed yesterday that he was "unlikely" to appeal the ruling.
The plan that American Apparel's board hopes will turn around the fortunes of the retailer involves a $230 million debt-for-equity swap with $40 million in exit financing and a $40 million asset-backed facility.
"This just gives us the opportunity to move forward and not be encumbered by a protracted bankruptcy, so for us it's gone through very quickly in the scheme of things," chief executive officer Paula Schneider told WWD yesterday. "What it does allow is the freedom to move forward now and the ability to have some liquidity that we desperately need and make American Apparel stronger."
Dov Charney

The company does hold potential to press reset, according to California Fashion Association president Ilse Metchek, who said without Charney's involvement "there's nothing in its way except the right voice and getting it out into the right channel".
For Charney's part, he is already planning his next step, as outlined in a statement released yesterday: "At the end of this saga, I, like the many former stockholders, will most likely be left with nothing. Despite that, what gives me great optimism are the things I possess that can't be stolen by a hedge fund - my ideas, values, drive and my passion. To that end I ask that my supporters stay tuned."
