With on-again, off-again celebrity relationships, can modern romance in the spotlight exist?!

Well, Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth can attest -- it does! After splitting up and ending their engagement all the way back in September 2013, the lovebirds reportedly are back on and re-engaged.
Originally reported by Us Weekly and confirmed by E! sources as well, the two have apparently reconciled and are planning on continuing their engagement.

Miley has not been demure about showing off the ceremonial pre-wedding bling. She’s been posting Instagram photos where the engagement ring is clearly visible, as seen below.

ADELE'S RECORD-BREAKING WEEK

Adele's Record-Breaking Week

ADELE  is no stranger to breaking records, but the latest milestone is one to note: her video for  Hello, released from her third studio album,  25, has notched up one billion views in just 87 days on YouTube.

The previous record holder was Psy, who reached the magic number in 158 days back in 2014 for the single  Gangnam Style, while YouTube has revealed that only 17 music videos have reached the one-billion-views mark. "If anyone deserves it, it's Adele and that song," said its head of original programming, Susanne Daniels, yesterday.

Emma Watson

But that's not the only thing that the star will be celebrating this week. Forbes has included the hit maker in its inaugural  30 Under 30 European line-up, which charts "300 of the top young leaders, creative inventors and brash entrepreneurs in 10 different sectors" - and she's in good company.

Other  stars to appear in the list include actresses  Emma Watson,  Emilia Clarke,  Alicia Vikander  and  Florence Welch, while Simone Rocha,  Sadie Williams,  Delfina Delettrez, Chiara Ferragni and Grace Wales Bonner  represent the fashion industry.

WHAT'S NEW IN THE OLD WORLD OF COUTURE? "BEST DESIGN"

WHAT'S NEW IN THE OLD WORLD OF COUTURE?

RALPH & RUSSO is not only the sole British house on the couture schedule, but is also one of the more recent additions, which is perhaps why the label is so keen to constantly evolve and challenge conventions. Although more traditional than many couture houses in terms of aesthetic - harking back to the golden heyday of couture and eschewing the modern approach of many of the more established houses, whose ready-to-wear and couture are almost indistinguishable to the layperson - Ralph & Russo places a great emphasis on technique, innovating each season.

"We have a few new techniques this season, of course," designer Tamara Ralph smiled as she walked us around the label's sprawling London atelier, ahead of Monday's show. "We have a new fabric, which is made by individually cutting pieces of silk and fusing them on to tulle, creating an effect that is new for us - and quite fun. We have more hand-painting, which we've done a little before but the scale this time is quite different; new bespoke corsets; a new pointed-bust shape. We've definitely worked hard to push ourselves in new directions," she smiles mischievously as its pointed out that her team must roll their eyes every time she has a boundary-pushing (and time-consuming) new idea.

Fans of the label's frothy and comfortingly glamorous confections will be glad to hear that the changes are all in the details and not in the overall effect. Not out of place at a royal wedding or state banquet - where the house's creations are frequently found - the new collection offers a gentle evolution that will suit its customers perfectly.

"We have always had two sort of design signatures," Ralph nodded, gesturing to a client's wedding dress being beaded by three of the house's 120-strong team of artisans, "and I think both of those are still developing in a parallel way. We have the very soft, diaphanous shapes that are focused on flow and movement and fabric; and other much more structured pieces that allow us to play with cutting techniques  - both of which can be beaded or not."

"We've definitely
worked hard
to push ourselves
in new directions"

That dichotomy of handwriting is testament to Ralph's pragmatic approach to finding something for every customer's taste, which nevertheless sits within the Ralph & Russo aesthetic - a practice adopted by every hugely successful brand throughout history. The painstaking attention to detail - which sees Ralph deliberate over the number of flowers appliquéd on to a jacket or exact length of a hem during our visit - will also be applied to the label's new accessories.

Set to launch on the company's website this season, the bags and shoes are the first step in offering the accessible products that will help it transition from British couturier to global brand - whilst allowing those with a slightly less regal budget than their client to access a little taste of couture.

"I think this look can take a bag," Ralph said thoughtfully as she prepared one particularly striking cobalt blue suit for the catwalk. And, if we know the label's fans as we think we do, they'll all take one too.
Shoes will be online at RalphandRusso.com this weekend, with bags arriving later in the season.

DOLCE & GABBANA CASE OFFICIALLY CLOSED

Dolce & Gabbana Case Officially Closed

Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana

THE last defendant in  Dolce & Gabbana's  lengthy tax-evasion case  has been acquitted, meaning the investigation into the dealings of the fashion house, its namesake designers and additional members of staff is officially closed.
Domenico Dolce  and  Stefano Gabbana  were cleared back in October 2014 of tax evasion when the highest court in Italy found the two designers - who at that point had spent nearly four years attempting to clear their names - not guilty, overturning  two previous sentences at lower courts. Yesterday, Dolce's cousin Alfonso Dolce, who worked for the fashion house's Luxembourg-based holding company, Gado Srl (which it had been claimed was a fictitious entity created to avoid paying tax in Italy) was also exonerated of any claims made against him.
Dolce's lawyer, Massimo Dinoia, told  WWD  that the latest ruling meant the case "is definitely closed with an unquestionable verdict that does not admit uncertainties: there is no case to answer."

Kering's Cinematic Collaboration

Kering's Cinematic Collaboration

KERING is furthering its commitment to its Women in Motion initiative, which it launched last year, by collaborating with the Sundance Institute's Women at Sundance Fellowship Programme.

"Women make up 50.8 per cent of the US population and yet only 4.2 per cent of the 100 top-grossing films are made by female directors," Francois-Henri Pinault, chairman and chief executive officer of Kering Group, told WWD. "However, each year for the past 13 years, 25 per cent of American directors at the Sundance Film Festival have been female. Empowering women to succeed and encouraging a more diverse film industry is essential when we consider the impact that films have on our ways of thinking and behaving."

Francois-Henri Pinault

The programme will pair six female filmmakers from Sundance Institute's programmes with industry leaders for a year-long, bespoke mentorship programme, which will include coaching, learning and network opportunities.
The collaboration and Pinault's comments come at a pertinent time for the film industry as the pay-gap debate and gender equality dominate the international headlines.

Barcelona star Javier Mascherano is sentenced to a year in prison over £1.2million tax fraud - but is set to avoid jail by paying £625,000 fine

Barcelona star Javier Mascherano is sentenced to a year in prison over £1.2million tax fraud - but is set to avoid jail by paying £625,000 fine

  • Javier Mascherano attended hearing at the Court of Barcelona on Thursday
  • The Barcelona defender admitted two counts of tax evasion totaling £1.1m
  • He admitted the offences last year and paid back the amount with interest
  • Mascherano was handed a one-year prison sentence but will not serve time
  • Lionel Messi also has a tax fraud trial set for May 31-June 3 in Barcelona

Javier Mascherano has been sentenced to a year in prison and fined €815,000 (£625,000) for two tax offences.
However, the Barcelona star is not likely to be spending a year behind bars, after his lawyer David Aineto requested the prison sentence to be substituted for the fine, which he is yet to pay.
Mascherano's lawyer is also attempting to have the offences removed from his criminal record by paying an additional fine.
In Spain people handed sentences of less than two years are not normally required to serve their sentence, unless they are being punished for violent crime, if they agree to a fine.

Mascherano, 31, was given four-month and eight-month sentences for the two offences which took place in 2011 and 2012.
The Argentine star had already repaid the full €1.6million (£1.15million) debt owed to the tax authorities before he was given his punishment.

MASCHERANO RESPONDS IN A STATEMENT

Through this communication I would like to clarify some of the questions that have recently been linked to me.
Today I have reached a full and final settlement with the Spanish tax authorities that has been agreed by all parties. Now that the matter has been finally resolved, and with the peace of mind of knowing that the situation has reached an end I would like to make a short statement.
After agreeing my arrival at Barcelona I engaged the services of a prestigious Spanish tax firm of the highest professional standing and excellent reputation.
Having in consideration my situation, they recommended to me certain financial structures, all of which they informed me were common practise, totally transparent and accepted by the law.
I was assessed by these professionals from 2010 until 2014 when I decided to change my advisors in view of the proceedings that had been initiated against me along with evidence that my problem was no longer just a possibility but had become a reality
The hearing on Thursday lasted only 10 minutes, according to reports in Spain
The hearing on Thursday lasted only 10 minutes, according to reports in Spain
My new advisors recommended that I should pay all the taxes being reclaimed by the Inland Revenue presenting what is referred to as ‘corrections’ over all the relevant fiscal years.
Now, finally, and after a bitter and painful episode in my life I have finally reached agreement which leaves me safe in the knowledge that I am fully up to date with all my financial obligations.
I am a professional sportsman and I do not have great knowledge of neither legal nor tax-related matters. For that reason I need to rely on the support of those people trained to deal with such matters that, for me, are complicated.
Throughout my career I have been honest and responsible, respecting my team mates at the clubs and all those countries where I have lived.
This situation I have found myself in I will treat as one more experience in my life from which, hopefully, I can emerge stronger, at peace and content in the knowledge that I am once again in compliance with the law.
I reserve the right to take possible action against those advisors who mismanaged my affairs and recommended things to me that were not correct.

Mascherano published an open letter after the verdict in which he insisted he was an 'honest and responsible person'.
He wrote: 'After agreeing my arrival at Barcelona I engaged the services of a prestigious Spanish tax firm of the highest professional standing and excellent reputation.
'Having in consideration my situation, they recommended to me certain financial structures, all of which they informed me were common practise, totally transparent and accepted by the law.

Mascherano is not the only Barcelona star who is having financial problems, with Messi set for a court appearance later this year after he and his father were also charged with tax fraud through image rights arrangements.
Messi's trial has been set for May 31-June 3, conflicting with the start of the centennial Copa America in the United States.
The Copa America Centenario will kick off June 3, meaning the five-time world player of the year will not have the best of preparations ahead of Argentina's opening game.
Messi's lawyers are expected to try to change the trial dates.
Meanwhile, in September Neymar had over £30m of assets frozen after being accused of not paying all his taxes.

MASCHERANO TAX EVASION Q&A

Javier Mascherano has been given a year in prison and a hefty fine. Will he serve his sentence?
The judge must decide in the coming days if he has to or not, but it is extremely unlikely that he will be put behind bars. Mascherano's lawyer has offered to pay a fine in exchange for keeping his client out of prison, which will be looked at favourably by the court. In Spain, if you are given a sentence of two years or less you are not required to serve it, unless the reason for the punishment is violent crime.
What did he do to get in this mess?
Mascherano had not announced earnings of his own image rights, which he had ceded to companies in the USA and Portugal - companies which he owns. He says he was badly advised to do that. The mistakes were made back in 2011 and 2012.
Is it his fault?
Everybody is responsible for their own finances and the punishment handed to Mascherano reflects that. However, he has reserved the right to take action against the people that encouraged him to go down a route which proved illegal.
Has Mascherano paid back the money?
As soon as the wrongdoing was highlighted, Mascherano paid back the money - around £1.15m, as well as £150,000 in interest. He now has another £625,000 to add on top - plus the fine in lieu of his year in prison.
Is this going to affect his form?
The case has dragged on for a while and doesn't seem to be affecting the Argentine too badly on the pitch.
Will he continue to be called up by Barcelona?
He published a statement on Barcelona's website after his sentence was decided, in which he insisted he was back within the law and that he would emerge from the incident stronger. Given Barcelona have continued to play Neymar and Lionel Messi, despite similar tax problems, there's no reason to believe Mascherano will be dropped.
So, what will the overall outcome be?
Mascherano keeps playing for Barcelona, the judge agrees to let him pay a fine instead of going to prison, he stumps up and continues his life. Perhaps opposition fans will chant about him and his financial problems, like Espanyol supporters did to Messi recently, demanding Mascherano's compatriot pays his taxes.

ORIGINAL FAST &FURIOUS DIRECTOR ROB COHEN MAKING HURRICANE DISASTER MOVIE CATEGORY 5

ORIGINAL FAST &FURIOUS DIRECTOR ROB COHEN MAKING HURRICANE DISASTER MOVIE CATEGORY 5

Rob Cohen publicising Stealth

Rob Cohen, director of the original The Fast And The FuriousxXx and Alex Cross, has found his next project. He'll be behind the cameras for Category 5, a high-concept action disaster thriller about hackers on a heist during a hurricane. Triple-H, anyone?
Scott Windhauser (writer of the upcoming Dolph Lundgren actioner Larceny) came up with the screenplay. The story sees a gang of tech-savvy thieves mounting an assault on a US Mint facility in an unspecified quiet coastal town, somewhat hampered by the arrival of the titlar freak weather event. Didn't they check the forecast? Maybe they planned it as their cover all along. Whatever, presumably due to the town's evacuation, the only people left on hand to stop the hardy criminals are a meteorologist and a female treasury agent.
"Crossing a heist movie set amidst the intense action of a natural disaster was an idea to which I truly responded," Cohen says. "It’s a chance for me to get back to my roots in doing the adrenaline-pumped action/special-effects films I love to create." His most recent film was the mystery The Boy Next Door with Jennifer Lopez, which arrived early last year.
"Rob Cohen is an incredibly smart and inventive action director," says production company Foresight's Mark Damon, "and we are delighted to be part of Category 5. Scott Wind hauser’s script details an extraordinary race against the elements, which we are confident, with Cohen’s vision, will be a breathtaking adventure for audiences worldwide."
Distribution deals will be done at the European Film Market next month, and shooting is set for the summer.

SAM SMITH RESPONDS TO CRITICISM AFTER TWEETING RACIST ENCOUNTER: 'THIS IS NOT ABOUT ME IN ANY WAY

Sam Smith Responds to Criticism After Tweeting Racist Encounter: 'This Is Not About Me In Any Way

Sam Smith performs during Day 2 of 2015 Music Midtown at Piedmont Park on Sept. 19, 2015 in Atlanta, Georgia.

Earlier this week, Grammy winner Sam Smith became a Twitter target after he tweeted about a friend's racist encounter in London. While tweets poured in, mocking the U.K. vocalist for "discovering racism in 2016," Smith took to Instagram to respond to the criticism.
"For the record, I was merely sharing an experience that I had in the hope it would draw attention to how ridiculous it is to be racist in 2016," he wrote.
"This is not about me in any way. It's about a deep rooted issue we have in our society that should now be extinct," he continued. "I don't profess to know or remotely understand what it means to be on the receiving end of racist abuse but having been bullied my whole life for being gay, what I do know is that it is wrong and completely unacceptable."

After a friend was apparently berated with racist comments on Tuesday (Jan. 19), Smith tweeted that he was "deeply shocked" by the whole ordeal.
He wrapped his Instagram statement with, "Here's to people being allowed to be people."

ALEXANDER MCQUEEN: THE MOVIE

ALEXANDER MCQUEEN: THE MOVIE

Lee McQueen

LAST year we were given McQueen the play and next year we will be treated to McQueen the movie, with an original screenplay written by the award-winning playwright Chris Urch.
The biopic about the late fashion designer's life is being produced by Pathé - the company behind other real-life adaptations including Suffragette,Selma and Mandela - and will be directed by Andrew Haigh, reports Deadline, who most recently worked on the Oscar-nominated 45 Years. Production is currently slated to start towards the end of the year.

Stephen Wight - who took on the role of McQueen
in the London stage production - with Dianna Agron

While further details, including cast and plotline are yet to be confirmed, it is safe to say that there will be plenty of interest in the finished film. When the Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty launched at the V&A last year, it was forced to extend its original run, release an additional 50,000 tickets, and opened early and closed late so to meet the huge public demand.
